The images you're viewing have been brewing in my mind for a long time. From 1979 to 1983 I studied photography at Rochester Institute of Technology. While there I began to experiment with two fascinating mediums; infrared film photography and hand-coloring B&W images with photographic oils. I enjoyed both very much. After graduation life got busy and I found myself spending less and less time photographing just for the fun of it.Fast forward to the 21st century. After years of working in various aspects of the photographic industry and shooting everything from weddings to industrial furnaces, I decided to get back to the "fun" of photography and to the things I really enjoy. I immediately thought of my time with infrared and hand-coloring!Using techniques learned over the years, I'm now striving to create the images I've imagined. The surreal feeling of infrared's stark B&W balanced with the warm soft tones of muted color. The images offer a new way to see the world around us. The soft colors are reminiscent of photos from years past; a slower pace of life, tranquil and serene. The infrared is a reminder of what is right in front of us, but never seen. It's like seeing the other side of light.Thank you for visiting!Mike
